Getting Tough The Race V (2016)

Wie alles begann

Als regelmäßiger Teilnehmer der Trainings vom OCR Frankfurt konnte ich mich Anfang 2016 nicht mehr vor der Gruppenanmeldung zum GTTR V drücken. Mir fiel einfach keine Ausrede ein, um mir eine Teilnahme zu ersparen. Also angemeldet, Überweisung getätigt und erstmal wieder vergessen – der Dezember ist ja noch lange hin…

Vorbereitung

Mein sportlicher Fokus im Frühjahr und Sommer lag auf Trail- und Ultraläufen und der entsprechenden Vorbereitung. Nachdem der letzter Hauptwettkampf im August vorbei war, begann ich mich langsam mit dem GTTR zu beschäftigen. In diesem Zusammenhang hörte ich immer mehr Berichte über die Härte des Rennens. Die zu erwartenden Temperaturen im Dezember, die Menge an Wasser und die Vielzahl der zu überwindenden Hindernisse sind nur einige Beispiele. Videos und Fotos aus dem Jahr 2015 brachten mich dazu, mein Training entsprechend anzupassen.

Es verschob sich von Grundlagenausdauer mehr in Richtung Intervalle und Tempotraining. Dass die OCR Frankfurt Heartbeat Sessions ab Oktober wieder statt fanden, kam mir sehr gelegen. Damit ließ sich eine kombinierte Kraft-/ Tempoeinheit pro Woche abhaken.

Außerdem quälten wir uns in einer kleineren Gruppe unter der Leitung von Raschkenstein in einem 10 Wochen Programm, welches auf die GTTR Anforderungen abgestimmt war. Wir liefen bei niedrigen Außentemperaturen in komplett nasser Bekleidung, tauchten mehrfach in einem kalten See komplett unter und versuchten so die Belastung des Rennens zu simulieren. Eine gute Gelegenheit, um sich an die untypische Ausrüstung wie Badekappe und Neoprenweste zu gewöhnen.

Race Weekend

Am 02.12 war es dann endlich soweit – eine große Gruppe aus dem Rhein Main Gebiet machte sich auf den Weg nach Rudolstadt. Am Festplatz angekommen wurden schnell die Startunterlagen eingesammelt und Paul, Marius und Marjan bei der ersten Austragung des SAN (Sprint at Night) angefeuert. Hier bekam man bereits einen guten Eindruck der Hindernisse im Zielbereich und konnte sich verschiede Techniken für die Überwindung an- bzw. abschauen. Anschließend schnell ins Hotel, einchecken, Carbo Loading und ab ins Bett. Am nächsten Morgen beim Frühstück machte sich deutlich Nervosität gemischt mit Vorfreude breit. Um dieser Herr zu werden, wurde die Ausrüstung erneut gecheckt, Startnummern befestigt und der Zeitnahmechip angelegt. Dann fuhren wir nach Rudolstadt und reihten uns mit vielen Teilnehmern in die Parkplatzschlangen ein. Endlich auf dem Festplatz angekommen wurde es langsam ernst.

THE RACE

Nach dem gemeinsamen Aufwärmen und dem Gruppenfoto konzentriere ich mich auf eine gute Startposition, um nach der harten Vorbereitung die Chance auf eine schwarze Medaille und damit eine Top100 Platzierung nicht direkt zu verspielen.

Countdown, Massenstart, Gedrängel, Krabbeln, Rennen und direkt der erste Sprung in den Graben mit Wasser bis zur Brust. Dort alleine rauskommen ist unmöglich. Glücklicherweise erspähe ich helfende Hände und erkenne Paul und Patrick wieder, die mir aus dem Graben helfen – Danke dafür!

Nach den beiden Gräben bin ich in meinem Element und kann beim Laufen meine Renntaktik planen. Ich erkenne, dass zu viele Läufer vor mir sind und beginne zu überholen. Über gefrorene Felder, Single Trails und Waldwege geht es in die Berge rund um Rudolstadt. Die nächsten etwa 20km vergehen wie im Flug und bei der Rückkehr zur Sturmbahn befinde ich mich unter den ersten 50 Athleten. Ich bekomme das gelbe Elite Band – das erste Ziel ist erreicht.

Jetzt beginnt der eigentliche Hindernissparcours. Um das Elite Band zu behalten, müssen ab jetzt alle Hindernisse korrekt bewältigt werden. Nach dem Durchwaten der Wassergräben folgen Hangeln, Krabbeln und Baumstämme, die mit einem Sandsack auf dem Rücken überwunden werden möchten. Bis auf meine eiskalten und fast gefühllosen Hände fühle ich mich gut. Also auf zum Schwimmbad, Badekappe auf und so schnell wie es die Lunge zulässt unter den Stämmen durchtauchen.

Beim darauffolgenden Hangeln über dem Becken versagen das erste mal meine kalten Hände. Der Sturz ins Wasser und die damit verbundenen 30 Liegestützen kosten Zeit und Plätze.

Raus aus dem Schwimmbad und mit Vollgas Richtung Festplatz. Nach dem Wasserfall und der Wasserrutsche machen sich erste leichte Krämpfe bemerkbar und ich ahne was noch auf mich zukommt. Ich bin mental in einem Tunnel, blende die Schmerzen aus, denke von Hindernis zu Hindernis und bekomme von der Umwelt wenig mit.

Einzig die Anfeuerungen und Tipps von Olya dringen zu mir durch. Seit dem Schwimmbad muss ich mehr als 20 Athleten überholt haben, denn ich erreiche das Ziel als neunundzwanzigster. Ich habe das Elite Band nicht verloren und erhalte die ersehnte schwarze Medaille.

Aufgewärmt und in trockener Kleidung gehe ich zurück auf den Festplatz und feuere die anderen Athleten an. Der Tag endet mit einer ausgiebigen warmen Dusche, einem leckeren Essen und der After Race Party im Festzelt.

OCR Frankfurt erreicht in der Teamwertung den 6. Platz, holt 5 schwarze Medaillen und von 25 Athleten erreichen 24 das Ziel. Niemand wurde allein gelassen und auch der letzte Athlet wurde von Supportteam angefeuert und ins Ziel getragen.

Es war herausforderndes und tolles Wochenende. Danke an alle Beteiligten, Supporter, Fotografen und alle die mich motiviert und unterstützt haben.

Fazit: unangenehm hart – bis nächstes Jahr.
