Als OCR Frankfurt vor einigen Monaten vom Rock-Race im nahen Würzburg erfuhr, war klar, dass wir wieder mit einer größeren Truppe vertreten sein würden. Und um es vorweg zu nehmen: Die Teilnahme hat sich mehr als gelohnt! Insgesamt waren 12 OCR Athletinnen und Athleten sowie Supporter am Start. Alle OCR Mitglieder hatten sich für die lange 18 Kilometer-Strecke entschieden. Der tollen Stimmung konnte es auch keinen Abbruch tun, dass es den ganzen Tag regnete. Es war schließlich nur nass und nicht wirklich kalt und nass werden würden wir ja sowieso.
Der erste Teil der Strecke oder „Between Rock and a Hardplace…“
Die Gesamtstrecke ließ sich grob in drei Abschnitte unterteilen: Der erste Teil umfasste eine Strecke von schätzungsweise fünf Kilometern. Hier mussten gleich zu Beginn ein 10kg schwerer Sandsack getragen, das eine oder andere Kletter- und Wasserhindernis und ein etwa 100 Meter langer Schwimmabschnitt überwunden werden. Insbesondere das Schwimmen mit Klamotten und Schuhen im Main war ein kreatives abwechslungsreiches Hindernis, das in der Form einzigartig ist, und sehr anstrengend dazu!
Es folgte ein Hindernisparcours, der die typischen Hindernisse wie Wände, Monkeybars, Schaum- und Wasserbecken und LKW bzw. -Anhänger umfasste.
Eine Innovation waren ausrangierte PKW. Wir mussten ausnahmsweise nicht darübersteigen, sondern durchkriechen. Eine gute Sache!
Der Hindernisparcours konnte in wenigen Minuten gemeistert werden. Vor dem Ziel musste er ein zweites Mal durchlaufen werden.
Der Sturm auf die Festung!
Dann folgte der dritte und härteste Abschnitt: Der Sturm auf die Festung! Dieser umfasste schätzungsweise 11 Kilometer. Dies war der schönste und auch anstrengendste Teil Strecke, da laut Veranstalter 700 Höhenmeter überwunden werden mussten. Zunächst ging es am Main entlang, bevor ordentlich Höhenmeter abgerissen werden mussten. Falls noch Zeit dafür blieb, hatte man von der Festung einen genialen Blick über die Stadt. Wunderschön!
Den härtesten Teil stellte sicherlich der Slalom an den Weinbergen dar. Wenn ich richtig gezählt habe, mussten hier insgesamt zehnmal Strecken zwischen 20 und 50 Metern an den Hängen auf- und dann gleich wieder runtergelaufen werden. Nach dem dritten Berg hörte ich auf zu zählen und dachte nur noch: „Wann hört das endlich auf???“ Der Boden war komplett matschig. Hier versagten selbst die besten Trailschuhe. Beim Aufstieg war meistens Schneckentempo angesagt, einfach nur hart!
Dann ging es weiter durch die schönen Festungsanlagen. Hier wurden an zwei Wendepunkten Armbändchen verteilt, um Abkürzungen zu vermeiden. Anscheinend war im letzten Jahr einigen die Strecke zu hart. Am Ende hieß es die Strecke von der Festung zum Start-/Zieleinlauf zurück und nochmal durch den Hindernisparcours laufen. OCR Frankfurt hat es auf zwei Podiumsplätze geschafft: Platz 2 bei den Damen und Platz 2 in der Teamwertung! Respekt! Selbst das zweite OCR Team kam in der Gesamtwertung auf Platz 5. Es war schön zu sehen, dass sich das regelmäßige Training der Athletinnen und Athleten jetzt auszahlt!
Bewertung
Die Strecke war wirklich sehr schön und abwechslungsreich. Die Veranstalter fielen mit einigen Annehmlichkeiten auf, die ich so von anderen Hindernisrennen bisher nicht kannte. Angefangen von einem Wasserschlauch auf der Festung, um die völlig mit Matsch verklebten Schuhe kurz abzuspritzen, über die Bereitstellung einer Turnhalle mit richtigen Duschmöglichkeiten (wow!) sowie kostenlose Massagen von Physios, die ihren Job richtig gut machten und sich Zeit nahmen. Kostenlose und sehr leckere Apfel- und Käsekuchen in großen Mengen rundeten das Angebot ab. Sehr schön! Dafür haben die Organisatoren ein sehr großes Lob verdient!
Eine bessere Beschilderung des Start- und Zielbereiches wäre wünschenswert gewesen. Mir war nicht ersichtlich wo es die Startnummern, Getränke- und Läuferverpflegung, Finishershirts usw. gibt. Da besteht Verbesserungsbedarf.
Logistische Herausforderungen
Da Zeitnahmechips bei Hindernisläufen häufig abfallen können wurden, um auf Nummer sicher zu gehen, sowohl Startnummern für den Oberkörperbereich als auch Zeiterfassungsschips für die Schuhe verteilt. Der Kleber der Chips löste sich bei beiden, sodass einige unserer Läufer zwar Plastik am Schuh und die Startnummer ins Ziel beförderten, jedoch keinen Zeitnahmechip! Gerade im Schwimmteil fanden sich sehr viele Zeiterfassungschips im Wasser. Vielleicht wäre es sinnvoller gewesen, Plastikchips und Kabelbinder zu verwenden, die sich bei anderen Rennen als sehr widerstandsfähig erwiesen haben, wobei ich die Kosten dafür nicht kenne
Insgesamt gab es massive Probleme bei der Zeiterfassung. Selbst Läufer mit Chips wurden gar nicht oder mit ungenauen Zeiten erfasst. Deswegen sei hier aus Gründen des Sportsgeists auch erwähnt, dass das Team von Laufstil Würzburg schneller als das Team OCR Frankfurt 1 ins Ziel kam, aber nicht alle Teammitglieder erfasst wurden. In der offiziellen Ergebnisliste wurde es mittels Zielkamera bereits korrigiert. Auch hier: Respekt an die Konkurrenz!
Insgesamt gab es bei der Wertung der Läufer riesige Probleme, da durch das Auflaufen auf die letzten Läufer des 7km Rennens der Zieleinlauf komplett verzerrt wurde. Es war nur schwer ersichtlich, wer nun einläuft. Während sich die Bezwinger des 7km Rennens über ihre Leistung freuten und im Zielbereich ihre Leistung ausgiebig würdigten, rannten die 18km Läufer irgendwie zwischen ihnen durch um schnell ins Ziel zu kommen. Die Bewältigung der letzten Hindernisse war unmöglich, da man sich dafür hätte anstellen müssen. Hier wurde von den Schnellen die Ausweich-Option der Liegestützen gewählt.
Auch für die Zuschauer war das schade, nicht mal die Organisation blickte noch durch wer denn nun zu den Schnellen gehörte, von der Spannung auf der Zielgeraden bekamen sie nichts mit.
Die bei der Streckenlänge und den Höhenmetern aufgezeichneten Werte von zwei OCR-Läufern unterschieden auch deutlich von den offiziellen Angaben: Statt den angekündigten 18 Kilometern und 700 Höhenmetern kamen unsere beiden Läufer auf maximal 16,3 Kilometer und 500 Metern. Das Rennen mit einem zehn-Kilosandsack zu beginnen, war mal etwas anderes und eine sehr gute Idee. Allerdings nicht gerade das Beste eine Horde unaufgewärmter Hobbysportler mit zehn Kilo Zusatzgewicht loshetzen zu lassen. Die angekündigte Schleppstrecke wirkte deutlich kürzer als ein Kilometer. Auch die Läuferinnen mussten einen zehn-Kilosandsack wuchten. Für viele Frauen war dies ein sehr hohes Gewicht. Vielleicht konnten die Veranstalter aus organisatorischen Gründen einfach keine leichteren Säcke zur Verfügung stellen. Unsere Damen haben jedenfalls den Männern in nichts nachgestanden.
Die Schnellen stießen auf manchen Streckenabschnitte auf freiwillige Helfer, die nicht wirklich wussten, wo die Läuferinnen und Läufer langlaufen sollten. Dies ist ein typisches Problem bei Läufen und nicht nur bei Hindernisläufen. Dennoch ist es ärgerlich, wenn so Zeit verloren geht. Am Weinberg war die Streckenbeschilderung schlichtweg nicht intuitiv, zwar wurde Flatterband zum Kennzeichnen der Strecke verwendet, aber wirklich ersichtlich, wie der Parcours gedacht war wurde daraus nicht.
Was noch zu erwähnen wäre, wären einstürzende Hindernisse. Die Kriechhindernisse bestanden aus Bierkästen auf die lose Bauzäune gelegt waren. Fahrlässig! Bereits bei der ersten Berührung durch die heranstürmenden Läufer vielen diese über den anderen zusammen. Schrammen gehören zwar zum Hindernislauf dazu, aber diese waren wirklich unnötig. Beim nächsten Mal besser befestigen!
Fazit
Trotz einiger Probleme ist das Rock-Race ein Hammerrennen! Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war sehr gut, die Organisation bis auf die Zeiterfassungsprobleme und kleinere Herausforderungen mit Herz bei der Sache! Großen Dank an das Rock-Race-Organisationsteam und die unzähligen freiwilligen Helferinnen und Helfer! Dieses Engagement lässt die organisatorischen Fehler verzeihen. Wir sehen uns im nächsten Jahr wieder!
