8.Juli 5:45 Uhr… der Wecker reißt mich aus dem Schlaf. Mein erster Gedanke –RACEDAY-, mein zweiter: „ was hat mich heute Nacht überfahren? Ein 40 Tonner oder ein A380? Haben mich etwa die 2 extra großen Portionen Spaghetti von der Pastaparty bei Giuseppe am Vorabend um den Schlaf gebracht? „Warum ausgerechnet heute?“ denke ich mir und quäle mich aus dem Bett. Der Rucksack ist Gott sei Dank schon fertig gepackt, (inkl. dem Haftungsauschlusszettel- ganz wichtig- sonst warten bei der Startnummerabholung die ersten 30 Burpees) … also auf nach Hattersheim zu Gusi, dort startet der Partybus Richtung Duisburg.
7:45 Uhr… Fabian, Giuseppe und meine Wenigkeit warten sehnsüchtig auf Scott, der unterwegs schon Arne und Andi (Holzi) eingesammelt hat. Endlich kann es losgehen. OCR Hundi Haakon ist als mentale Unterstützung natürlich auch mit an Board ☺
Unterwegs gibt es Geflügelwiener & lautstarke Techno & Trance Beats von Gusi. „Zum Glück“ ist Haakon sowieso schon taub, ansonsten wäre er es jetzt!
10.10 Uhr… Wir sind in Duisburg und vergeblich auf der Suche nach dem Veranstaltungsgelände.
Rechts…. Links… wieder rechts… als uns etliche Autos entgegen kommen wird uns bewusst, dass wir wohl der falschen Autoschlange gefolgt sind. „Super“, denk ich mir. In 45 Minuten ist Start und 3 von 6 Blasen sind kurz vorm platzen… Also wieder zurück… rechts… links… nochmal links… wieder rechts…
5 Minuten später erreichen wir dann doch endlich den Parkplatz und machen uns auf den Weg zum Veranstaltungsgelände. Schon von weitem hören wir laute Musik und jemanden ins Mikrofon schreien. „WER SEID IHR?“ ….als Antwort ein lautes “SPARTANER“ – Hier sind wir richtig!
Unterwegs sehen wir Wasser…. Viel Wasser… das uns dieses Wasser noch den ganzen Tag begleiten würde, ahnte in dem Moment wohl keiner von uns.
10:30 Uhr… eine lange Schlange vor der Startnummernausgabe. Zeit genug, um eeeeendlich nochmal auf die Toilette zu sprinten. Geschafft! Ein paar Minuten später und vermutlich (gefühlte) 2 Liter leichter halten wir unsere Startnummern in der Hand. Zeitchip an den Schuh, Stirnband auf und ab Richtung Start. Unsere Eliteläufer Vic, Alex, Marjan, Kevin und Andreas sind schon im Sprint auf der Strecke unterwegs und Coach Fabian macht sich auf den Weg um die Ersten im Ziel begrüßen zu können!
10:58 Uhr… Pünktlich stehen wir dem Menschen, den wir schon vorhin von weitem gehört haben. – Der Mann mit dem Mikrofon! Jetzt sind wir dran. Wieder schreit er: „WER SEID IHR?“ –„SPARTANER“ „WIE LAUTET EUER SCHLACHTRUF?“ – „AROOO,AROOO, AROOO!“
Noch ein paar letzte Aufwärmübungen und dann geht´s auch schon los. Ab auf die Strecke! SUPER, wie kommen!…
Das Rennen
Nach einigen Walls die überklettert oder drunter durchgekrochen werden mussten, folgt eine lange Laufstrecke(irgendwo müssen die 15km ja herkommen) ☺ und das Feld zieht sich allmählich schon etwas auseinander. Unterwegs müssen wieder einige Walls, darunter auch eine Negativwand und die allseits gefürchtete Slack-Line überwunden werden (als Team haben wir sie tatsächlich zusammen geschafft), bevor es zum ersten Mal ins Wasser geht. Bei fast 30 Grad tatsächlich eine Wohltat nach der Laufstrecke. Wie oft wir allerdings noch die Regattabahn durchqueren sollten an diesem Tag, wurde uns erst 2 Stunden später bewusst. Aus dem Wasser raus warteten ca. 50 Meter Stacheldraht auf uns, rollen oder robben war nun die Frage. Arne und ich entschieden uns zu rollen, was sich jedoch bereits nach ca. 10 Metern als Fehler rausstellte, da ich die ersten Sternchen sah und Arne neben mir über Schwindel klagte. Also doch den Rest robben. Anschließend kletterten wir über eine Netzwand und dann wartete schon das nächste Hindernis auf uns. Die Monkey Bars waren nun in Sichtweite, ebenfalls in Sichtweite am Streckenrand waren nun auch Fabian, Alex, Marjan und Co. Die uns lautstark anfeuerten und Tips gaben. Noch nass vom Wasser und matschigen Händen standen wir nun vor dem „Hindernis der Hindernisse“ – Monkey Bars. Was beim Sprint in München noch ohne Probleme geklappt hatte, stellte sich nun heute als unüberwindbares Hindernis heraus. 30 Burpees- und zwar für Jeden – außer Arne. (Streber!) ☺
Danach erwartet uns ein ca 40kg schwerer Betonklotz (Herkules Hoist) für die Frauen, 60 kg für die Männer, der in ca. 3 Meter Höhe gezogen werden musste. Mit der richtigen Technik kein Problem!
Danach wieder ab ins Wasser…. Schwimmstrecke Nr. 2- auf zum anderen Ufer.
Dort erwarteten uns Baumstämme, welche durch ein kleines Waldstück getragen werden mussten.
Und da war sie wieder- die elendig lange Laufstrecke, geschmückt mit Walls. Teilweise bis zu 3 Meter hoch- hier war nun endgültig der Teamgeist gefragt.
Irgendwann mussten wir natürlich auch wieder ans andere Ufer, also nichts wie rein ins kühle Nass. Schwimmstrecke Nr. 3! Vorher durften wir noch einen Sandsack vom Grund an die Oberfläche ziehen. Am anderen Ufer angekommen – Laufstrecke durch ein schattiges Waldstück mit entsprechendem Untergrund. Mitten im Wald erwartete uns nun eine ca. 4 Meter hohe Netzwand, welche überklettert werden musste. Da immer nur 2-3 Spartaner im Netz waren, staute es sich so an, dass wir fast 10 Minuten warten mussten. Wieder ein bisschen Laufen, dann folgte eine Stahlkonstruktion die „unterklettert“ werden musste ohne den Boden zu berühren. Alle geschafft. Check! Nach wenigen Metern kamen wartete dann schon das nächste Hindernis – die Kette.
Die schwere Kette musste einmal komplett um ein Fußballfeld getragen werden. AUA- langsam aber sicher tut dann doch irgendwas weh….
Wieder Laufstrecke… dann mitten im Wald Seile. Wir sind beim Rope Climbing. Was bei mir in München noch undenkbar war, klappte heute als hätte ich im Leben nichts anderes gemacht.
2 vom Team schaffen es jedoch nicht. Wir teilen uns aber die Burpees um schnell weiter zu kommen.
Danach Laufstrecke und ab ins Wasser Teil 4. Quer durch die Regattabahn, am Ufer über eine Netzwand. Es warteten die Sandsäcke auf uns, welche noch durch unwegsames Waldgelände bergauf und bergab geschleppt werden wollten. Zum ersten Mal nun meldeten sich meine Waden. Autsch…
Dann wieder laufen, laufen, laufen,
Atlasstein schleppen…. 5 Burpees… Atlasstein wieder zurück schleppen…. Laufen, laufen, laufen…
Wieder rein ins Wasser Nr. 5, angeblich laut einem Volunteer das letzte Mal.
Am anderen Ufer angekommen trauten wir unseren Augen kaum. Bergauf lagen schön aufgereiht mehrere Baumstämme unterschiedlicher Höhe und Entfernung, die mit einem Gummiband um die Wadenübersprungen werden sollten. ERNSTHAFT JETZT?
Gusi, Arne und Scott stürmten gleich drauflos. Ich begutachtete das Spektakel erstmal aus sicherer Entfernung, konnte mich aber dann doch überwinden. ☺ Nach ca. 10 übersprungenen Stämmen meldeten sich wieder meine Waden. Ich blieb stehen und schaute verzweifelt zu Arne, Gusi und Scott, die schon angekommen waren „ich kann und will nicht mehr“ hätte ich am liebsten geschrien. Hinter mir Holzi mit dem gleichen Gesichtsausdruck. Nochmal die Zähnen zusammenbeißen und los geht´s. – Durchziehen- 5 große, schmerzhafte Sprünge und wir hatten es geschafft. Gummiband zurück in die Box geworfen und weiter geht’s. Meine Uhr zeigte bereits 12,5 km an. Es konnte also nicht mehr allzu weit sein bis ins Ziel.
Wieder Laufstrecke durch Zuschauermengen bis ich meinen persönlichen Feind auch schon erblickte.
„Speerwerfen“ dazu muss ich nicht viel schreiben außer: 5 von 5 aus dem Team verkackt! 30 Burpees für jeden ☺
Fabian, Vic & Co warteten wieder am Streckenrand und feuerten uns nochmal so richtig an. 3 letzte Hindernisse. Ein 4 Meter hoher Container, mit Netzen überspannt, eine kleine Netzwand inkl. Baumstämmen und zuletzt eine Wasserwand mussten überwunden werden. Die Finishline war schon in Sichtweite. Ein letzter gemeinsamer Sprung übers Feuer und es war geschafft.
Nach 2:40 Std waren wir im Ziel. Nicht die allerbeste Zeit, aber wichtig war uns als Team zusammen zu bleiben und gemeinsam zu finishen. Viel Schwimmstrecke und einige Male anstehen, kosteten uns einige Minuten, was aber in dem Moment vollkommen egal war.
